
Ingredients
Pizza Dough
- 300 g all-purpose flour
- 5 g salt
- 7 g active dry yeast
- 200 ml warm water (around 40°C)
- 10 ml olive oil
Pizza Sauce
- 200 g canned crushed tomatoes
- 2 garlic cloves
- 5 g dried origanum
- salt and pepper to taste
Toppings
- 150 g mozzarella cheese shredded
- 100 g bell peppers sliced
- 100 g red onion thinly sliced
- 100 g black olives sliced
- 100 g mushrooms sliced
- 50 g cherry tomatoes halved
- fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
Prepare the Pizza Dough:
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the flour mixture.
- Mix everything together until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise for about 1-2 hours or until it has doubled in size.
Prepare the Pizza Sauce:
- In a small saucepan, heat the tomato sauce or passata over low heat.
- Add the minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (430°F) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven to heat.
Assemble the Pizza:
- Punch down the risen dough and divide it into two equal portions for two pizzas.
- Roll out each portion of dough on a lightly floured surface into a thin round shape, about 12 inches (30 cm) in diameter.
- Transfer the rolled-out dough to a piece of parchment paper to make it easier to transfer to the oven.
Add Toppings:
- Spread a thin layer of the prepared pizza sauce over the dough.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
- Add your choice of toppings: bell peppers, red onion, black olives, mushrooms, and cherry tomatoes.
Bake:
- Carefully transfer the parchment paper with the pizza onto the preheated baking stone or baking sheet in the oven.
- Bake for about 15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling and slightly browned.
Garnish:
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a minute.
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves.
Serve:
