Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread
  • 200 g cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or your choice)
  • 2 tbsp butter (for spreading)
  • Optional: 1-2 teaspoons of mayonnaise or mustard for extra flavor
  • Optional: Sliced tomatoes, bacon, or other toppings of your choice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat your pan: Place a non-stick frying pan or skillet on the stove over medium-low heat.
  • Butter the bread: Take one side of each slice of bread and spread a thin layer of butter on it. If desired, you can also spread a thin layer of mayonnaise or mustard on the other side for extra flavor.
  • Slice the cheese: Thinly slice the cheese. You can use more or less cheese depending on your preference.
  • Assemble the sandwich: Place the cheese slices between two slices of bread, buttered side out. If you're adding any optional toppings like tomatoes or bacon, layer them in between the cheese slices.
  • Cook the sandwich: Place the assembled sandwich in the preheated pan. Allow it to cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until the bread turns golden brown and the cheese begins to melt. You can cover the pan with a lid to help the cheese melt faster.
  • Flip the sandwich: Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula and cook the other side until it's also golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
  • Serve: Remove the grilled cheese sandwich from the pan and let it cool for a minute. Slice it diagonally if desired and season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  • Enjoy: Serve your delicious grilled cheese sandwich while it's still warm and enjoy!
Feel free to customize your grilled cheese sandwich with your favorite cheese and toppings for a unique twist on this classic comfort food.
