Ingredients
Salmon
- 500 g fresh salmon fillet skinless and boneless
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1 garlic clove minced
- 1/4 cup red onion finely chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh parlsey finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 4 whole wheat burger buns
- Lettuce, tomato slices, and other burger toppings of your choice
- olive oil for grilling
Sauce
- 1/4 cup Greek yoghurt
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1/2 tsp lemon juice
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Prepare the Salmon Mixture:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped salmon, breadcrumbs, red onion, parsley, minced garlic, egg, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper.
- Mix the ingredients until well combined.
Form Salmon Patties:
- Divide the salmon mixture into 4 equal portions.
- Shape each portion into a patty, making sure they are well compacted. You can use your hands or a burger press for this.
Preheat the Grill:
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, around 200-220°C.
Grill the Salmon Patties:
- Brush the grill grates with a bit of olive oil to prevent sticking.
- Place the salmon patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and have nice grill marks.
Prepare the Sauce:
- While the salmon burgers are grilling, prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
Assemble the Burgers:
- Toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill for a minute or two until they are lightly browned.
- Spread the sauce on the bottom half of each bun.
- Place a grilled salmon patty on top of the sauce.
- Add lettuce, tomato slices, and any other toppings you like.
- Top with the other half of the bun.
