
Ingredients
- 250 g all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda (bicarbonate of soda)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 170 g unsalted butter softened
- 200 g granulated sugar
- 100 g brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 150 g chocolate chips (you can adjust the amount to your preference)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set this dry mixture aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until it becomes light and fluffy. You can use a hand mixer or do this by hand with a wooden spoon.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture and mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry mixture (flour, baking soda, and salt) to the wet mixture (butter, sugars, egg, and vanilla), mixing until a dough forms.
- Stir in the chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 5 centimeters (2 inches) apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 12 minutes or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown, but the centers are still soft.
- Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
