Ingredients

Pizza dough

  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 7 g instant yeast
  • 5 g salt
  • 7 g sugar
  • 200 ml warm water
  • 15 ml olive oil

Pulled pork

  • 500 g pork shoulder or pork butt
  • 15 ml olive oil

Toppings

  • 150 g shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 small red onion thinly sliced
  • 2-3 tbsp fresh coriander leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Pizza Dough:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  • Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the flour mixture.
  • Stir until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it's smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Prepare the BBQ Pulled Pork:

  • If you don't already have cooked pulled pork, you can slow-cook a pork shoulder with your favorite barbecue rub until it's tender and easy to shred. Then, shred it.
  • Toss the shredded pork with the barbecue sauce until it's well coated.

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 220°C (430°F).

Roll Out the Dough:

  • Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a large pizza crust on a floured surface. Aim for your desired thickness.

Assemble the Pizza:

  • Place the rolled-out pizza dough on a pizza stone or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Spread a thin layer of barbecue sauce over the pizza dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
  • Sprinkle a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  • Add the BBQ pulled pork evenly over the cheese.
  • Scatter the thinly sliced red onion on top.

Bake the Pizza:

  • Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for about 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.

Garnish and Serve:

  • Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly.
  • Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves if desired.
  • Slice, serve, and enjoy your delicious BBQ pulled pork pizza!
Feel free to customize the toppings and barbecue sauce to your liking. Enjoy your homemade pizza!
